Let’s go on a field trip

Posted by on July 21, 2009

Hello Craft Field Trip logo Join Hello Craft and Biggs and Featherbelle for a tour and soap making session on Saturday August 22nd in Baltimore, MD.

This three hour tour will not strand you on an island, but will teach you about cold process soap techniques, and an overview on the daily workings of a small craft-based business. In addition, everyone will get to create their very own body scrub!

Mohawk Hat

Mohawk hat

I just finished this custom order for a knitted mohawk hat.

I started with i-cord and knit from the bottom up, shaping the first ear flap, then the other. I cast on the in between stitches so the hat could be worked in the round.

I added a 3×3 ribbed brim then finished the hat in stockinette, decreasing to make the crown.

For the mohawk, I added wool yarn on in three rows then felted it. I let it dry over night and this was the result.

The i-cord is also tipped with orange felt, which looks pretty cool. Let me know what you think!

Don’t Look Secret Santa!

I successfully completed my Upcycled Secret Santa gift. A part of an event hosted by Hello Craft, all participants were asked to use found materials/objects to make something new, for their secret Santa.

My secret Santa might be getting her gift a little bit late as I really wanted to keep my wee creation.

If you are a part of Hello Craft’s Upcycled Secret Santa Swap – discontinue reading right now, until you have received your gift. Then, and only then can you see what I made for my secret Santa.
