The Handmade Mart
is super excited to be teaming up with Downtown Silver Spring and the FRESHFARM Market for the first annual Holiday Shop-n-Stroll!

This one-day, outdoor, holiday extravaganza will feature 50+ independent crafters, local farmers selling fresh seasonal produce, workshops, carolers, a tree lighting, and much more to get everyone into the holiday swing of things.

The Handmade Mart is now accepting vendor applications for crafters to participate in this unique shopping experience along the bustling Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring.

The Handmade Mart is a juried craft show. To apply, download the application, and send it to handmademart [at] gmail.com along with three photos of your craft. The deadline to apply is October 19th. Vendors will be selected based on quality and uniqueness of their craft.

There is no fee to apply, but all accepted vendors will need to pay a $65 booth fee + an additional fee if electricity is needed. More information can be found on the FAQ page (PDF) and the application here (PDF).

I’ve had such a fun time guest blogging for Jen over at Indie Fixx, that she has asked me to make it a monthly, regular type thing, which is pretty nifty.

So, do you have a topic you’d like to see me cover? Speak up and let me know and stay tuned for this monthly feature.

But first! you should head on over and read my latest installment of From the Desk of Kelly Rand.

Welcome to the Gun Club. Each Wednesday I hope to provide you with a taste of gun imagery found in the handmade community. Enjoy the irony!

pocket knife

It’s a gun. It’s a knife. It’s a gun. It’s a knife. It’s a well made gun pocket knife! This little beauty measures about two inches as is and three inches with the blade extended. Made by Mary Andrews, this compact knife comes with a 24 inch chain and a lot of attitude.
