I wanted to share a bit more of what I created for those lucky gift receivers out there. I realize that I am probably giving some things away for parts of my family, but I’ll take my chances.
For my often hard to shop for brother, I got him these rockin’ mustash pint glasses, by Bread and Badger. I figure even if he doesn’t appreciate them, my sister-in-law and the kids will love them.
For said sis-in-law, I went with a suggestion from Becky over at Hello Craft and went with Calometry. I should have checked the forums first and went with their suggestions the first time around. The second try came out much better. I’ll have to knit one up for myself.
I did indeed end up getting that pirate chest I talked about for my nephew. I also wanted to keep that, but figured a 6 year old would get more use out of it than I. It sometimes sucks being a grown up.
For my teenage niece, I went with something that all teenage girls are currently in love with: Twilight. Since I too, went through an obsessive phase and plowed through all the books in a mere week’s time, I knew the perfect quote to put on a t-shirt.
Hopefully she will appreciate it.
For my mother, I packaged up some hot cocoa mix and some of the marshmallows, that I recently made into a cute little package.
My mother also is a fan of white wine, so I snagged a bottle of California Chardonay and knit up a wine cozy.
The pattern was also courtesy of knitty, but I altered it to create in the round and used my dpns, instead of dealing with a side seam which I would have had to stitch up later. When I knit, I hate finishing, weaving in all my ends and sewing up seams, so I try and eliminate all of that as much as possible.
I also seemed to have made the drawstring a little long. Oh well, it works.
For my father, I quickly sewed up a drawstring pouch, from a pattern I found on the internet. I can’t seem to find it now, but it was fairly simple and straight forward. No raw edges and nor persice measureing needed.
No picture of the bag. Hopefully my camera happy parents will take lots of pictures when they open them on Chirstmas morn.
What about you? What have you created for your loved ones? I would love to know!
